Have you ever asked yourself, why?

Why exactly are you doing the things that you’re doing in your life? I used to ask myself these very questions all of the time, but it was recently that it all became abundantly clear. They are My Why. My husband Ryan, has been by my side for 19 years. He’s been there as I graduated high school, college, a master’s degree, childbirth, a cancer diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, and even opening our first business.

My precious girls, Ada and Lola, oh how I want them to see a mother that is a God fearing woman, working hard to provide for them, give back to her community, empower others, and just an all around good person. These people are the most precious gift I’ve ever been given, and they are My Why!

This year, for Giving Tuesday, I knew that I wanted to see us donate back, to an organization that does so much for our community, Easter Seals of Central Illinois. Easter Seals continues to provide numerous therapies and services to individuals they serve, and their families. The services that they provide are too numerous to list, but I think we all know a family that has benefited from this amazing organization and their one of a kind staff!

House made Syrups were something from the very beginning that I was incredibly passionate.  I have always tried to eat a fairly clean diet, and I knew that I wanted to deliver nothing less to my customers.  If it wasn’t going to put syrups, with yucky preservatives, in my body, I surely wouldn’t serve that to my customers either.  I enjoy creating and experimenting with the various syrup selections, and then serving them to our customers. Hope you can taste the love that is served in each cup!

World Down Syndrome Awareness Day is so special for us at The Spot because of our amazing employee Kylie.  Kylie has been with our business for over two years now, and is truly such a gift to us. She has made such a positive impact on not only our professional lives, but our personal ones as well.  We all enjoy going and watching Kylie, each year, steal the show, in the annual Penguin Project Production. Kylie’s silly and fun personality makes people truly enjoy being around her. On Down Syndrome Awareness Day, we make it our mission, as a business, to spread awareness about this population’s abilities.  So many times people just focus on the disability, but their abilities far outweigh their disabilities, and I think that’s something to celebrate!
